Goodyear unveils two futuristic concept tires
At the 85th International Geneva Motor Show which is taking place at Palexpo convention center these days, automakers and global component manufacturers in the auto industry are showcasing their latest products.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Akron, Ohio-based global manufacturer also displayed two futuristic concept tires at the motor show. Reimagining the role that tires may play in the future, these concept tires will become more integrated with the vehicle and the consumer, thus will be more environmentally friendly and more versatile. One of the concept is named BHO3 which is capable of transforming the heat energy generated by the rolling tires into electrical energy. The second concept tire is Triple Tube that contains three tubes which adjust tire inflation pressure according to change in the road conditions.

The BHO3 concept tire has been developed by looking at the increasing demand of the electric vehicles as it can contribute a lot to improve the vehicle range by providing some extra power. Integrated with thermoelectric and piezoelectric materials, the tire will produce electricity by capturing and transforming the energy created by heat as it rolls during driving.

As the name suggests, the Triple Tube concept tire features three internal tubes within itself. One of the tube is located beneath the tread, another near the inboard and outboard shoulders of the tire and the third one at the center. An internal pump sends air from the main air chamber to the three individual tubes. Based on road conditions, the tire automatically adjusts to three different positions: Eco/Safety, Sporty and the Wet Traction position.
